Girls cautioned against boyfriends!

With increasing cases of young girls being exploited by their male friends, the State Commission for Women here has asked all colleges in the audience to be careful, being in a relationship.

"This is a serious issue, and new trends in Orissa. We have to sensitize girls through the nationwide campaign", SCW President Jyoti Panigrahi told reporters.

During the campaign, girls will be told to be careful, being in relationship with the boy, "she said.

The initiative comes as a result of the number of girls committing suicide or attempted suicide after the 'blackmail' their friends.

22-year-old girl committed suicide last year in Cuttack after she found her unwanted images in CD allegedly made by her friend.

He was later arrested by police.

Another three girls fell victim to racketeering pornographic CD in Dhenkanal district last month. In all cases, the boys were in the "relationship" with the girls, Panigrahi said.

A similar incident came to light in the area of Balangir. Girl in Dhenkanal recently tried to commit suicide after finding her unwanted images on the CD are available at the local market, she said.

In his address to parents, VBF President Orissa also advised them to be friends with their younger daughters so they can openly discuss their acquaintances, friends and relations.

SCW appealed for help to the police, to deter threats.
